Currently being implemented, this project aims to address the economic, agronomic, and knowledge gaps in weed management among smallholder soybean farmers in Ethiopia. By comparing the costs, benefits, and health impacts of traditional hand-weeding versus herbicide use, the research will provide evidence-based recommendations for sustainable and profitable weed-control strategies. The study will also assess farmers’ awareness of pesticide safety and environmental risks, generating empirical data to inform extension services, policy decisions, and future investments to boost soybean productivity and farmer livelihoods.
