The International Research Development Office (IRDO) provides tailored guidance and institutional support throughout the Fulbright application process to help MSU faculty and staff develop strong, competitive proposals while navigating university‑specific procedures. Support is available at all stages of development, from early idea formation through final submission.
IRDO offers personalized proposal assistance, including one‑on‑one consultations to discuss award fit, project design, and application strategy. Faculty and staff may also request internal review and feedback on draft application materials, allowing time to refine project narratives, strengthen alignment with Fulbright review criteria, and address feasibility or clarity issues before submission. When required, IRDO assists with coordinating institutional letters of support and ensuring that applications accurately reflect MSU’s role and commitments.
In addition to proposal development, IRDO coordinates with relevant campus partners to support the administrative aspects of Fulbright participation. This includes working with department heads and deans to facilitate leave planning and ensure academic continuity during the award period, as well as coordinating with Sponsored Programs when cost share or grant‑related considerations are involved. These conversations help prevent delays and ensure institutional alignment well in advance of the award start date.
Early engagement with IRDO is strongly encouraged, as it allows applicants to take full advantage of available support and avoid common administrative or procedural challenges. Faculty and staff who involve IRDO early in the process are better positioned to develop competitive applications, align projects with institutional priorities, and navigate MSU‑specific requirements efficiently and confidently.
