Global Development Seed Grants

The Mission

The Global Development Seed Grant (GDSG) program's mission is to support Mississippi State University faculty in launching innovative, high-impact international research and partnerships that advance global collaboration and build long-term capacity for sustainable development. Through strategic seed funding, the GDSG program positions MSU to pursue external funding opportunities while addressing critical global challenges, strengthening the university’s international engagement, and making positive impacts both at home and abroad. Recipient Reflections

"Because of the Global Development Seed Grant, I was able to conduct responsive and thoughtful international, community-based research. I was also able to connect with a wider network of researchers who are working internationally on similar topics, and I'm able to think broadly about my research and how it impacts communities throughout the Americas." - Dr. Silvina Lopez Barrera, 2022 Recipient

"As an early career faculty, you often need data that is going to push you towards a larger grant. The Global Development Seed Grant bridges that gap very well. It gives you just enough of a startup that you can get that proof of concept and preliminary data for your larger project." - Dr. Joel Komakech, 2024 Recipient
