The U.S. Fulbright Scholar Program offers Mississippi State University faculty, researchers, administrators, and artists the opportunity to engage internationally through teaching, research, or a combination of both. With participation from more than 130 countries, the program supports a wide range of disciplines and career stages, allowing scholars to apply their expertise in global contexts while building meaningful, long‑term partnerships abroad. Awards vary by country and focus area, but most emphasize academic exchange, mutual understanding, and professional collaboration.
Fulbright Scholar awards are intentionally flexible. Many opportunities allow applicants to propose their own teaching and/or research agenda, making it possible to design a project that aligns closely with your expertise, interests, and professional goals. While U.S. citizenship is required and a PhD or terminal degree is preferred for many awards, eligibility and expectations differ by country and award type. MSU faculty and staff are encouraged to explore options using Fulbright’s Award Search Tool to identify opportunities that fit their background, timeline, and aspirations. The International Research Development Office is available to help you think through fit, positioning, and next steps as you explore whether Fulbright is right for you.
